Andy McDowell from Auckland created a video for the 2013 World Parkinson Congress Video Competion. It wasbased on a poem he had written to explain Parkinson's to his daughters.
 
The video Smaller went on to win both the Grand Prize and the People's Choice Award and Andy was in Montreal to receive the Awards. He spoke to Jim Mora on Radio New Zealand National show Afternoons, both before and after the event.

Don Woodward from Milford won the Ron Greenwood Community Spirit Award at the 2013 Parkinson's New Zealand recognition awards last month. The award recognises a person with Parkinson’s who contributes to the wider community. He was profiled in the North Shore Times

Ron Rickman from New Plymouth won the Sir Peter Snell Keep Moving Award at the 2013 Parkinson's New Zealand recognition awards in April. This award recognises a person with Parkinson’s who endeavours to remain active and takes part in exercise to the best of their ability. He was profiled in the Taranaki Daily News
